Congratulatory Messages from Distinguished Guests

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Embassy of the State of Eritrea to Japan
H.E. Mr.Estifanos Afeworki Haile

First of all, let me express my appreciation and gratitude for the kind hospitality and invitation extended to me to participate in the 55th Anniversary of Kyoto Computer Gakuin and 15th Anniversary of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics. My name is Estifanos Afeworki; I am the Ambassador of the State of Eritrea and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps here in Japan. It is a great honor for me to be here among you today to celebrate the pioneer spirit and achievements made by your esteemed schools.

This is my second time, to be here. I was here before 10 years in 2008. The relationship of collaboration that began in 2007 between the Ministry of Education of the State of Eritrea and Your esteemed institutions didn’t succeed to get the expected traction since then due to the no-peace and no-war situation that prevailed between Eritrea and Ethiopia for the past 10 years. It is with great pleasure for all of us today when I announce to all participants here that the new political leadership in Ethiopia finally accepted the international rule of law decided by The Hague Court of Arbitration in 2002. As a result, a new chapter of history has unfolded in the Horn of Africa, Nile Basin, and Middle East. Peace, stability, prosperity and cooperation have become the order of the day in our region now. It is my strong belief that the cooperation that we started together can continue with no impediments now.
Information technology is bread and butter of our current livelihood. Japan has much to offer to Africa and my country Eritrea on this area of collaboration. Therefore, let me take this opportunity to call you’re your esteemed educators and school of pioneers in this field, for mutual win-win partnerships with Africa and my country Eritrea.
Last but not least, on this auspicious day, congratulations and thank you!
