I am honoured to extend to you warm congratulations on the auspicious occasion of
the 45th Anniversary of the Kyoto Computer Gakuin and 5th Anniversary of the Kyoto
College of Graduate Studies for Informatics, which shall be celebrated on 1 November
2008. It is a testament to your leadership and commitment that these institutions have
grown from strength to strength since their founding.
Through the IDCE project, Kyoto Computer Gakuin continues to make an invaluable
contribution to ICT education around the world by donating personal computers and
accessories to schools in many countries, including Uganda. Indeed, I am delighted to
note that this year, Kyoto Computer Gakuin has availed twenty-five (25) personal
computer sets to Ugandan schools, in collaboration with KDDI Corporation, a Japanese
telecommunications company. The recipient Ugandan schools thus far had only very
limited access to computer technology.
In line with the pioneering vision and generosity of spirit of Ms. Yasuko Hasegawa
and Mr. Shigeo Hasegawa, this project will offer countless opportunities for young
Ugandan students to access modern learning tools and gain introductory and mid-level
computer science and IT literacy education, vital skills that makes them competitive in
the digital age. Uganda greatly appreciates the generosity of Kyoto Computer Gakuin,
which will open new doors to these young students in Uganda and around the world.
It is therefore a distinct pleasure to wish you a happy anniversary as we look
forward to a future of even closer cooperation and friendship between Uganda and
Kyoto Computer Gakuin as well as The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for
Informatics.
Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and esteem.
